The Monroe - 3rd and Monroe St. Hoboken, NJ

Grand opening day at The Monroe. A brand new, and welcome competitor for my breakfast and lunch attention.

HobokenSandwich did not make it over till mid afternoon, long after our intended time. Met with a cordial and helpful proprietor in Mr. Ben Love.

Learned that they will be serving food 7 days a week. The menu is ripe with traditional favorites like beans and rice, roasted pork, chicken stew, empanadas, plantains, and Green Mountain Coffee for the morning commute.
By midday The Monroe had been visited by the short list of Hoboken players. Politicians, businessmen, artists, photographers, and even soul-less lawyer types who needed to find something real in their otherwise parasitic existence.

HobokenSandwich went with the roast pork with yellow rice and red beans. Solid. Wish I could have had a coffee, but there was no way. Had a big one earlier and I'm flying.

Green Moun
tain Coffee effectively compliments lunches that leave you looking for a hammock. The Monroe is open at 7am to cover the commuters who would sooner shoot a newborn out of a cannon than to go without caffeine before work.

1 Complaint - No unemployed women ages 25-35 showing off the goods in a down economy.

Springtime in Hoboken Benny!
Good luck, to the Monroe.
HobokenSandwich will return soon to check for progress on the out of work hotties sitting around having a coffee in the middle of the day.

Empanadas! Thats what HobokenSandwich is talkin about!

  2. I went there with my family last night. The place is beautiful, the guys behind the counter are super friendly, and the food....the food was fantastic. The atmosphere was very relaxed. We actually had coffee and a cookie before we left. We will certainly go back. Good luck!

  3. I ate lunch there yesterday and it was great. Pulled pork with rice and beans were as good as can be. Like the seating set up with bar heights tables and chairs and a separate couch seating area. Depending on who you are with and what you are discussing it has a great feel.

  4. I agree. And though it is hard to screw up pulled pork, The Monroe brings a version that is just like my neighbors when I was a kid.

Please offer your thoughts on sandwiches carefully. Most people do not understand sandwiches like we do. We simply do not want to see you embarrassed. Thank you. - The Management
